Paul Mullin, delantero del Wrexham del actor Ryan Reynolds que compite en la EFL League Two, ha reconocido que la famosa cantante Katy Perry salv su carrera como futbolista.
El canterano de Everton, Liverpool y Huddersfield Town, que tiene 29 aos y a lo largo de su carrera ha jugado para Morecambe, Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers o Cambridge United, fue el hroe del Wrexham en su ascenso de la pasada temporada.
Pero hace cinco aos Paul Mullin, cuando jugaba en el Tranmere Rovers (2018-2020) se estuvo planteando colgar las botas y retirarse del ftbol.
«Una maana le dije a mi esposa Mollie: «No quiero ir a entrenar. De todos modos, no voy a jugar. Ya no puedo aguantar ms. Slo quiero quedarme en casa», escribi Paul Mullin en su autobiografa.
En ‘My Wrexham Story’ el futbolista ingls desvela que cambi de opini y no se retir gracias a la cancin ‘Firework’ de Katy Perry.
«Mollie habl de ello conmigo y finalmente me puse en camino. En el camino mam llam. «Acabo de escuchar una cancin», me dijo, «y definitivamente se trata de ti». «Est bien», dije dubitativamente. «Qu es?» «Katy Perry», respondi ella. «Firework», recuerda Paul Mullins.
«Me lo puse en el coche y por primera vez escuch la letra. Lo que escuch fueron palabras asombrosas sobre creer en uno mismo, liberar tu verdadero potencial y encontrar esa chispa», recuerda el todava futbolista.
La pasada temporada Paul Mullin, que pone ‘Firework’ en su coche camino de los partidos, explot con la friolera de 46 goles.
«La cancin ‘Firework’ de Katy Perry fue algo muy importante para m cuando me senta tan deprimido», escribi Mullin.
Paul Mullin tambin fue la ‘Bota de Oro’ de la League Two la temporada 2020-2021 metiendo 32 goles en 36 partidos con el Cambridge United.
